I have made it to gorgeous Stockholm! It is sunny and warm and with the odd rainfall for short periods of time. I am staying just out of the city with my host Swedish mother Ingela. She has been amazing showing me around the city and how to get a transport card. First she showed me where she works which has this excellent view of Stockholm harbour and Grona Lund amusement park.
The next activity we did was go to this magnificent place right up my inner-earth child alley called Rosendals Tradgard. This is one of Ingela's favourite places for fresh flowers and a relaxing time in the gardens. This may be the most amazing place I have ever been, not just because of this garden's excellent looks, but everything it stands for. This is an ecological and organic community garden. It is a biodynamic and sustainable place where humans and nature come together. The ecological cafe serves fair trade and organic coffee, and the food out of the kitchen is made from in season produce straight from their gardens. They have their own artisanal bakery, a shop with screen printed cloths, books, homemade jams and pickled vegetables, and a nursery. Often exhibitions and events take place here promoting sustainability and good lifestyle. Admission is free and is not profit-driven. It has Apple orchards, veggie patches, pick-yourself flowers, oh and did I mention how delicious the cafe food is?
Further down I have some images of Gamla Stan which mean old town. It is a gorgeous old city with parliament the royal castle, cobbled-stone streets and narrow lanes. The architecture is well preserved and the tourists just love it!
